Our Approach.....

We have forty-seven years of combined experience teaching young children. The approach that we set out on while writing this book was to use our own experiences that have proven to be successful in various settings and have been kid-tested. The purpose of Art-Based Curriculum is to provide a resource for parents and teachers to explore art with children while providing a fun and educationally based introduction to learning the alphabet.

About Us

Kathi and Nancy: Nancy Diehl (left) was born in Des Moines, Iowa. After marrying an Air Force officer, she took her schooling on the road--majoring in Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Northwest Missouri State University, University of New Mexico, University of Southern Mississippi, and Pikes Peak Community College. Nancy and her husband live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they raised two children. Kathi Kemper was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After attending Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, she returned to Colorado Springs, where she married her husband of 46 years and raised three children. Kathi continued her schooling in Early Childhood Education and became a director for two preschools. Kathi taught for 25 years and together Nancy and Kathi opened First Class Preschool. Kathi has retired but still loves sharing her love of art with children. Nancy has taught preschool for 22 years and continues using her passion for teaching at her preschool; being the owner, the director and a teacher all in one.. Kathi and Nancy met while teaching, and both embraced art as a philosophy of learning.
